Whelprigg House offers you a real taste of country house living. The accommodation, in the North Wing, offers well–appointed bedrooms, a comfortable sitting room and a traditionally furnished dining room with a single long table. There is central heating throughout.
- Seven bedrooms, three twin and four double, accommodating up to fourteen people (but see 'Additional accommodation', below).
- Five bathrooms and/or shower rooms.
- Dining room seating up to fourteen guests.
- Large, well–lit, comfortable sitting room with open fire and TV/DVD.
- Kitchen with two ovens, four ceramic hobs, microwave oven, cabinet fridge and small freezer, small breakfast table with six chairs.
- Utility room with washing machine and drier.
- Wi–Fi; cycle storage.

Residents are welcome to use the croquet lawn and tennis court. There are also extensive opportunities for walking and cycling in the Lune valley and over the fells towards Dent and Sedbergh.
Various country pursuits can be laid on by prior arrangement, including trout fishing, pheasant shooting, duck flighting and stalking (roe and red deer). In addition, Casterton Golf Club and Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club are open to non–members.
There are several places to eat out in the local area, including:–
- The Barbon Inn – one mile away along footpaths, a mile and a half by road.
- The Pheasant Inn, Casterton – under two miles by road.
- Kirkby Lonsdale – three and a half miles, with several pubs, restaurants and cafés.
- Sedbergh – ten miles, with two pubs and many cafés and restaurants.
Whelprigg House also makes an excellent base from which to explore both the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Ingleton is less than ten miles away, and Bowness–on–Windermere twenty–five.
However you choose to spend your time, a stay at Whelprigg House will prove to be a memorable occasion.
